Dear Parents,

Mark Twain IS supports the social responsibility campaign The Shoe Box Appeal (“Zâmbetul din cutie”), initiated by Sansa Ta Association, which consists in offering presents and supplies to disadvantaged children from several Romanian counties. The presents will be distributed to children throughout the month of December 2023.

The deadline for gathering the boxes at Mark Twain IS is Wednesday, December 6th.

What can I do to help?

Take a medium size shoe box

Wrap up the lid box with special wrapping paper

Wrap up the box as well

Put the presents in the box

Put a label with the gender and the age of the child

Add the box lid and use an elastic band to hold the lid and the box together

What kind of present would be appropriate?

Offer the present you would like to receive!

The present must fit in the box (if you would like to give out more presents, you will have to fill in more boxes). Do not put in the box products which may expire and check the clothing items to be in very good condition before you put them in the box. Please find below a few presents suggestions.

Suggestions:

· Sweets (ex. chocolate, biscuits), but not products which may expire by the time children get their present (ex. bananas, yogurt)

· School supplies (school bag, a pencil case, pencils, colored pencils, markers, ink, sharpeners, notebooks, agendas, books, coloring books, paints, paintbrushes, playdough, erasers, rulers, etc.)

· Toys appropriate for the age of the child

· Personal hygiene products (toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, etc.)

· A Christmas card with a few lines from you for the child who will receive the present

· Clothing items (a scarf, a hat, mittens, t-shirts, or any other clothing item, new or previously worn, but in good condition, without tears or stains)

Where shall I deliver the present?

• the boxes will be brought at school by the children
