“Walking on Sunshine” & “Shakespeare Alive Theatre Festival”

Our 29th Mark Twain IS Performing Arts Summer Production (PYP/MYP/DP)

Magic filled the Ion Manu Otopeni Theatre auditorium as our students from all divisions of study (PYP, MYP and DP) took the stage. Our 29th Summer Show “Walking on Sunshine”, a Mark Twain IS production was an arts filled medley encompassing all their artistic manifestations, chosen and worked for, over the school year, from our over 40 co-curricular activities. Our students spread the Mark Twain IS mission of love of humanity and peace among their families, their teachers, as well as their other colleagues and friends from the audience who came to support them.

This year’s summer show unveiled a series of spectacular artistic representations, ranging from guitar recitals to contemporary dance, from ballet to piano concerts, and even from choir singing to percussion demonstrations. This vibrant event which brought into the spotlight a diverse collection of specialties also reserved a very special surprise to the audience: the 7th edition of Shakespeare Alive Festival in correlation with the actual performing arts summer show. Bringing together IB, MYP and DP students in a transdisciplinary event, interweaving language and literature, music and theatre, graphics and costume design, this year’s representation of Shakespeare Alive Festival immersed us into some of William Shakespeare’s most famous works, like: “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “The Taming of the Shrew”, Hamlet and more.

A set of warm congratulations is in order for everyone, for making possible the unfolding of yet another performing arts summer show inside the Mark Twain International School community. You did a wonderful job!
