Our dedicated faculty has returned to campus, buzzing with excitement and anticipation. Under the guidance of our new Head of School, Dr. Matthew Wilkens, we are looking forward to another year of academic excellence, personal growth, and community building.
Kicking Off the New Academic Year
This week, our dedicated faculty members returned to our vibrant campuses, preparing fervently for the new academic year launch on Monday, September 9th. The corridors of MTIS are once again alive with the sounds of enthusiasm and the hustle and bustle of preparations. Our Head of School, Dr. Matthew Wilkens, led the charge with an inspiring kickoff, focusing on the core values and personal missions that drive our educators.
Mark Twain International School is one of the oldest private educational institutions in Romania, with a rich history of success and a reputation for challenging educational frontiers. Our bilingual and international divisions offer a robust curriculum that meets the highest standards of academic rigor and global relevance.
Our educational philosophy extends beyond academic achievement. From the youngest learners in our preschool program to the graduates embarking on their university journeys, we aim to develop caring, active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. Our preschool program eases the transition of 2 to 3-year-olds into the IB Primary Years Programme, fostering confidence and self-expression in every child. As students progress, the IB Middle Years Programme encourages them to understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, nurturing critical and reflective thinkers. To further support our students in their journey to higher education, we offer two pathways to academic success: the National Romanian Baccalaureate and the IB Diploma Programme.

Our campuses, spread over 16,000m2 of green open spaces and 7,500m2 of modern buildings, provide an ideal environment for learning and growth. These warm and inviting spaces are designed to cater to the well-being and academic challenges of our students. With over 40 co-curricular activities, early artistic and athletic focus, and premium student services, we offer a comprehensive educational experience that nurtures every aspect of a child’s development. The Athletico Mark Twain Sports Academy launched this August in partnership with Athletico Young Star Club, offers participants the chance to test their skills in Football, Tennis, and Basketball.
